About this collection

For 80 years, Canisius College's weekly student newspaper, The Griffin, has provided glimpses of campus life, curriculum, social and regional news, as well as world events. This segment of collegiate papers (1933-2003) offers unique insight into Buffalo in time of war, shifting technologies, social movements, and upheavals ranging from Civil Rights, feminism, and anti-war protests, to the late 20th-century deindustrialization at the dawn of a new century. Of interest, advertising traces the history of Buffalo businesses, and names appearing in these pages are those of many of Western New York's leaders in medical, legal, business, religious, political, and social welfare circles.
