About this collection

Plattsburgh Public Library Local History Collections consist of printed material relating to the city of Plattsburgh, the Adirondacks, and the Champlain Valley, including manuscript material relating to Plattsburgh, and Clinton and Essex counties. Collections includes historical material, such as William Gilliland's original journal 1765-1793, general store accounts books, papers of a former mayor, deeds, indenture bonds, maps, pamphlets, and broadsides. Genealogical materials include manuscript data and narrative family histories, and photocopies of Clinton County cemetery records. There is also a large scrapbook collection, and the Archives of the Plattsburgh Public Library.
